NAB 2025 Highlights

Highlights from this year's National Association of Broadcasters convention. This year's #nabshow was a bit disappointing to be honest. There was less people in attendance, but higher numbers than COVID era, at the very least. No high profile gymnasts or dancers this year at any booths for added entertainment. The Trump Tariffs were on a lot of vendors' minds. As I walked around with product/gear salesman and friend, Sean Smillie, it kept coming up in discussion with other sales representatives and engineers. If you can't cheaply buy parts as input, you can't put together computers, servers, cameras, lights, sound boards, dollies, rigs, you name it. There was also construction occurring at the Las Vegas Convention Center that pushed what was the usual exhibits in the Central Hall instead into the North Hall. The audio exhibits, which were usually in the North Hall of past years, were in the new West Hall. So there was a bit of confusion as to where certain booths were this time. The South Hall only had exhibits in the downstairs section... this area will eventually be renovated as well. This was the first year for NAB where most of the best stuff was in North Hall instead of Central. (Apologies to the grip who accidentally tripped on the case wheel and I filmed it-- that was the best shot I got of the cases, and I needed to keep it and the slight trip in the cut lol). The LED screens were the star of this NAB convention. The realistic quality makes them now indistinguishable from a real location. The Unilumin [ at 3:18 ] screens of a mountaintop were amazing. This means you don't need a green/blue screen to add a background in post.
