Concerto in D-flat major for tuba and orchestra, Op. 37 (2009) - Composer: Geert Van Hoorick I. Allegro gentile 00:00 II. Marcia funebre 04:41 III. Allegretto cantabile 09:49 Digital performance using Sibelius Ultimate and NotePerformer 5. Feel free to rate and comment here. For sheet music go to http://www.scoreexchange.com/scores/8... (where the parts are automatically updated) and http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Van_Ho... (where the sheet music is for free). The Gregson, John Williams, Vaughan Williams and other tuba concertos may be very virtuoso and explore the capacities of the soloist perhaps more than this one, but is there one sweeter and more singing? This tuba concerto is modern-classical (i.e. neo-romantic) and consists of three movements. The 1st movement is moderately fast and built upon one gentle theme that is further developed. The 2nd movement is a slow Trauermarsch in the form of a passacaglia; magical moment (if I may say so myself) when the soloist comes in at 0'55". The final movement is moderately fast and singing, and in a shortened rondo form (ABA'CA). There is a cadenza in the final movement. The last revision is from 2026 (mostly technical improvements in the solo part and the orchestra, but nevertheless important).
