Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding is a medical emergency whose appropriate initial resuscitation is crucial. This Emergency Medicine V-Learning™ provides information about the difference between upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding and the immediate management of acute gastrointestinal bleeding. Along with this, the differential diagnosis of hematemesis is made understandable. Hematemesis diagnosis is also highlighted in this sqadia.com medical video lecture. ▬ 📃 Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding In gastrointestinal anatomy, the ligament of Treitz plays an important role in assessing gastrointestinal bleeding. If the bleeding is above this ligament then it is upper gastrointestinal bleeding. However, the bleeding below the ligament of Treitz is lower gastrointestinal bleeding. After determining the site of bleeding, immediate management is carried out along with the explanation of their respective characteristics. Upper GI bleeding is associated with hematemesis. In lower GI bleeding, bright red Blood and haematochezia are observed. In differential diagnosis of hematemesis or suspected upper GI bleeding, the patient is first assessed for stable and unstable condition. The unstable patient with Shock should be rapidly resuscitated and stabilized before completing a detailed history and physical examination according to upper GI bleeding guidelines. In stable patients and patients with no obvious cause of shock, nasogastric lavage should be performed promptly as part of the initial assessment. Further evaluation of the patient is carried out by taking history and physical examination. After that diagnostic testing is carried out through occult Blood, complete Blood count, Electrocardiography, nasogastric tube, and anoscopy. ▬ 🎬 5500+ sqadia.com Medical Videos ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👩🏻⚕️ Accessible Medical Student Education 24/7/365 💡 Simplifying Medical Learning 💪 Study Hard, Dream Big, Achieve More
