Trump launches new wave of US airstrikes on Iran-backed Houthis; heavy smoke rises in Yemen

Fresh smoke rose over Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, after reports of U.S. airstrikes on March 28, 2025. Houthi-controlled media reported airstrikes hitting key locations in Sanaa and northwest Yemen. Targets included Sanaa International Airport and a military command post in the Al-Tahrir district. The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV called the attacks "U.S. aggression," but casualties remain unclear. U.S. airstrikes against the Houthis escalated on March 15, following Houthi attacks on shipping routes.
