INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 4.3.25 | 9:42 PM LOCATION: 13524 S Avalon Blvd AREA/CITY: Unincorporated Gardena DETAILS: Many residents were displaced Thursday night after an apartment unit exploded, prompting a large response Authorities were called to the area regarding an apartment house Fire Upon arrival, firefighters located the upstairs part of the apartment building charged with smoke, however, there was no fire Upon further investigation, they discovered that a downstairs unit had explode,d with at least one male who injured his hand Paramedics assessed him and evacuated all residents from the building. However, the male was not transported to the hospital. As of now, there is currently 5 pounds of unexploded fuel located inside the unit of origin. All residents are to stay out of the building until further notice as hazmat coordinators work to mitigate the situation. Fire officials have requested additional support for the displaced residents.
