Corfu is an island with 100k inhabitants in the far West of Greece, with about 40% (40k) living in Corfu municipality alone. History in the island spans at least 2500 years, and nowadays, it is one of the most visited islands, on par with the likes of Mykonos and Santorini (the most famous island). Even though the winter season lasts between 1 November and 31 March and most attractions close early (at 15:30 instead of 20:00 like during the summer season), there are still many attractions to visit. Unfortunately, the New Venetian Fortress is closed for the winter season, but others are open. Examples of attractions in Corfu include the Casa Parlante Museum (invitation only), the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George (Museum of Asian art), The Old Fortress of Corfu, the Monastery of Panagia Vlacherna, Spianada Square, and Mon Repos park and palace, where Queen Elizabeth II's husband and King Charles III's father was born, Prince Phillip. However, during the winter, prices are slashed from 10 EUR to about 3 EUR for many attractions, and the combined ticket for the Archeological Museum, mon Repos Museum, Museum of Asian Art, Antivouniotissa Museum, and the Old and New Fortresses is only 17 EUR, which is a banger. The weather is reasonable, at 15-20 degrees C during March. The food prices are reasonable in a country like Greece, as I could find tons of 5-10 euro meals and at prominent restaurants, I could snag a whole meal for under 15 euros. Hotels range from 40 to 100 EUR a night for the most part, but I paid 80 EUR for 2 nights on mine in the centre. Between 1386 and 1797, the island used to be conquered by the Venetians, and hence, you do see Italian architecture all throughout Corfu.
