About time I uploaded another subtitle video! This time it's Capitaro's song Tenshinranman High Collar Hime, which most people seem to know through Osu! (Even the Japanese comments on the Nico upload mention it a lot, haha). Capitaro is one of my favourite Miku users and his stuff really deserves more attention, I couldn't resist subbing this song. Thanks to my friend Tess for looking over my translation and helping me with the phrasing of one pesky line. Anyways, translation notes: The "topknot' mentioned in the song refers to a traditional Japanese hairstyle, and for "cut away" the phrase used is "切り捨て" which can mean, essentially, to sacrifice or throw away. It's kind of a dark way of referring to the cutting of hair, but bear in mind that the song is commenting on the westernization of Japan... Hana Awase refers to a game played with Hanafuda cards, in which the objective is to get the highest scoring hand. Different types of cards have different values. As with many card games there's a pretty strong luck element, hence the metaphor. I made an error in the credits near the beginning- Capitaro put together the video himself, while Tanaka illustrated it. Composition, lyrics, video: Capitaro http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/17305626 Illustration: Tanaka http://colorcorn.jugem.jp Translation and subtitles: Siderou Oh, also, if you look, there's a capybara slipped into the video illustration... ! Fitting, since a capybara seems to be the producer's mascot.
