PLEASE SHARE: At around 6:45pm on the cold evening of December 10th 1986, 48-year-old Darleta Kay Hurt left the home of her son on Valley Park Dr. in St. Albans, W.V. after a short visit. Her apartment on the Kanawha Terrace was no more than 5 minute away, at most. About 10 minutes later her son called her apartment to advise her that she had left something behind at his home. There was no answer. Over the next two hours several attempts to reach Darleta by phone were made, all without success. A check at her apartment revealed the car she was driving was parked where it should have been, however, there was no indication whatsoever that Darleta had ever entered her apartment. When no trace of her had been found by the following evening her family contacted the St. Albans, WV Police Department and reported her as a missing person. What followed was six months of investigation by both local and State authorities. An investigation marked by clues appearing out of nowhere, evidence of marital strife, infidelity, and a curious reluctance to participate on the part of Darleta's estranged husband, Robert. As of this airing Darleta Kay Hurt has never been found...and after 39 years the St. Albans Police Department would certainly like to change that.
