In this video, Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem teaches us the importance of offering our prayers on time and which prayers are better to delay. Evidences from the Quran & Sunnah: Praying on time is the best The Prophet ﷺ was asked: “Which deed is the best?” He said: “Prayer at its proper time.” (Sahih Muslim 85) Fajr, Asr, and Maghrib must be prayed on time • These prayers have fixed times that should not be delayed without a valid excuse. • The Prophet ﷺ emphasized the importance of Asr: “Whoever misses the Asr prayer, it is as if he has lost his family and wealth.” (Bukhari 552) Dhuhr may be delayed when it’s very hot The Prophet ﷺ said: “When it is intensely hot, delay the Dhuhr prayer until it becomes cooler, for the intensity of the heat is from the breath of Hell.” (Bukhari 533, Muslim 615) • However, since we have AC nowadays, this may not be as applicable. Isha is best delayed until the first third of the night The Prophet ﷺ said: “If it were not difficult for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to delay the Isha prayer until the first third of the night.” (Tirmidhi 167) • Isha must be prayed before midnight: The Prophet ﷺ said: “The time of Isha extends to midnight.” (Muslim 612) How to Apply This in Daily Life: Pray all obligatory prayers within their prescribed time. For Isha, delay it if possible, but never past midnight. If it’s extremely hot and you’re praying outdoors, delay Dhuhr slightly. Always prioritize Fajr, Asr, and Maghrib on time without delay.
