The 2025 Golf R gets some nice improvements, with sharper looks, lighter wheels, a bigger screen, and more power, among other things. There's also been some improvements to the tuning for a wider power band. Thankfully, some of my complaints with Mk8 have been fixed, but some unfortunately haven't been fixed, so the Golf R continued to be a mixed bag. And the loss of the manual transmission option also hurts its appeal now. But if you want a low-profile pocket rocket with all-weather capability, there's really nothing else like the Golf R on the market these days, and I'm glad we still get it in America.
