Hand forging a hoof pick from a horse shoe for Teikka Western Wear

In this video I take one of Teikka’s horseshoes and turn it into a custom hoof pick for the owners of Teikka Western Wear. This isn’t just a piece of steel. This shoe came from Teikka’s final showing, and it carries a lot of meaning for the family. Teikka was more than just a horse. During one of the most difficult periods of their lives, Teikka became a steady presence for the family. A distraction from the hard days, a dependable friend, and a reminder that sometimes the strongest support in life comes from unexpected places. Adam, one of the owners of Teikka Western Wear, asked me if I could turn the shoe into something meaningful for his wife Brooke. Instead of letting the shoe sit on a shelf, we decided to give it a new life by forging it into a hoof pick she can actually use around the barn. Projects like this are one of the reasons I love what I do. Craft has the power to preserve memories. A piece of steel that once protected Teikka’s hoof can now continue serving Brooke every day while keeping that connection alive. This hoof pick is only the first step. Later on we’ll also be turning part of this horseshoe into a necklace so Teikka’s story can keep living on in another form.
