Located on the Minamiyamate hillside overlooking Nagasaki Harbour and the Mitsubishi shipyards across the harbour, Glover Garden is a park in Nagasaki, Japan, built for Thomas Blake Glover (1838-1911), a Scottish merchant who contributed greatly to the modernization of Japan in iron and steel making, shipbuilding and coal mining. In the park stands the Glover House, the residence where the Glover family lived in Japan. Glover House is the oldest Western-style house surviving in Japan and is a UNESCO world heritage site since 2015. Visitors to the park also have the opportunity to see other Western-style houses relocated to the park, e.g. Walker House, Ringer House and Steele Academy.
