“Start Your Day” correspondent Aiyana Cristal takes viewers inside this community that sits right next to downtown Atlanta with the largest population of Black land owners and entrepreneurs in the country. The community is named after a young merchant who went by Daniel Castleberry, but in the 1800’s it was called Snake Nation. Herman J. Russell was responsible for transforming the area with one of the most profitable minority owned empires. The Atlanta businessman inspired other Black entrepreneurs to invest in Castleberry Hill. With so many areas in Atlanta gentrifying, Black business owners are determined not to leave Castleberry Hill or sell their property.
