Stockholm is growing every year. And that means that even more people need to have somewhere to live. The infrastructure in the city also needs to accommodate all of these new people. This video is all about how Stockholm is growing - and what will change in the future. For more videos every week, subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/threestarvaga... Also, join the Three Star Vagabond Facebook group to discuss upcoming videos: / threestarvagabond The topics covered in this video include the Stockholm E4 Bypass - the second biggest city road tunnel in the world, after the Yamate Tunnel in Tokyo. It's a massive project that will cost more than 4 billion EUR. But given Sweden's track record of huge projects, the bill will likely end up at double that. I'm also talking a lot about the new subway lines that are coming. These include an extension of the blue line to Barkarby that will be finished in 2027, a green line extension to Arenastaden scheduled for completion in 2028, and also a completely new yellow line to Älvsjö that will see the light of day in 2034. Aside from that there's also a blue line that will go to Nacka in 2030, and along with that there will be a shuffling of the blue and green lines, as well as new subway station on the island of Södermalm. But there's more! New suburbs will pop up at Norra Djurgårdsstaden, Järva, Hagastaden and Årstafältet. But you never know what will happen with huge projects like this. Kymlinge was a new suburb that was intended to open in the 1970s, but it was abandoned - and these days all that remains is a haunted ghost station along the blue subway line.
