This workshop is suitable for children aged Year 4 to Year 6 as it is aligned to QCAA curriculum standards for Visual Arts. Download our accompanying activity booklet at http://reversegarbageqld.com.au/sites... -- About this Workshop -- How do we really see ourselves? Can we define our own identity or is it defined by our friends, our family or society? This workshop is a fantastic experience for students exploring identity and the use of recycled or salvaged materials in their art. Puppets are a piece of sculptural art. Students can use their re-machinations to explore the features and design of functional objects; comparing objects that are familiar and used in everyday life to objects in the new world within the book. Students will consider their creation’s unique features and functions as well as Visual Arts elements (e.g. line, shape, texture & colour) and concepts (e.g. space, balance, contrast & pattern). -- About Reverse Garbage Queensland -- Reverse Garbage Queensland Co-op Ltd (RGQ) is a not-for-profit worker run co-operative that promotes environmental sustainability and resource reuse. We collect high quality industrial discards, diverting them from landfill to sell at low cost to the general public. We were set up in 1998 to support Friends of the Earth Brisbane, to provide meaningful and ecologically sustainable employment and to be an example of a truly sustainable enterprise.
