Croatian Railways (HŽPP) operate a steady fleet of 2044s (EMD GT22HW-2 locos) which look & sound fantastic. For many years I had been wanting to visit this area to catch these stunning machines, however due to costs (popular tourist resort!), Covid & other reasons it took me forever to get out there! However in Summer 2023 this finally happened & the results were fantastic. As you can see the scenery is spectacular, the weather was amazingly hot & all trains ran. Despite being an expensive trip, it was well worth it. The last 6 minutes are clips filmed on my iPhone, mainly due to being out on the beers & not taking my camera with me! Recorded between 28/7/23-1/8/23. Enjoy the sun, scenery, sea & thrash! Keep an eye out for 2044 018 which kept spewing out smoke! In order we see: 1: 2044 020 slowly departs Kastel Stari heading for Split 2: 2044 018 arrives into Kastel Stari heading for Split 3: 2044 016 passes Labin Dalmatinski heading for Split 4: 2044 021 storms up the incline at Prgomet with the Budapest - Split 5: 2044 018 + 2044 028 ((028 low on power) thrash past Prgomet working Bratislava - Split 6: 2044 028 storms uphill at Sadine working the Split - Bratislava at Sadin 7: 2044 018 also storms uphill at Sadine working the Split - Budapest 8-9: 2044 016 shunting and ready to go at Split 10: 2044 016 departing Split Pregrade working to Vukovar 11: 2044 021 departing Split Pregrade working to Osijek 12: 2044 016 powers into Labin before shutting off working towards Split 13: 2044 011 powers up the hill at Prgomet working towards Split 14: 2044 017 powers up the hill at Progmet working the Budapest - Split 15: same train seen again near Labin 16: 2044 018 is seen at Primorski Dolac with the 6 hour late Bratislava - Split 17: and again at Prgomet 18: 2044 011 is seen climbing the hill at Sadine working the Split - Bratislava 19: 2044 017 is seen climbing the hill at Sadine working the Split - Budapest 20: 2044 020 is seen near Kaštel Stari working the Osijek - Split 21: 2044 011 powers out of Split Pregrade working Split - Vukovar 22: 2044 020 rolls out of Split working to Osijek 23: 2044 021 powers through the Split tunnels 24: 2044 021 then departs Split Pregrade working to Osijek 25: 2044 016 departs Split working to Vukovar 26: 2044 018 storms through the Tunnels at Split, sounding amazing 😎 27: 2044 018 thrashing away from Split Pregrade working to Osijek Enjoy! #trainspotting #croatia #HZPP #2044 #generalmotors #emd #thrash #clag #split #beautifulscenery
