“Mala, the music of the wind” (2002) – a Greek theatrical play by Nikos Karvelas, starring Anna Vissi as Mala Zimetbaum, staged in Athens in the Pallas Theatre. A story of a real, yet tragic love between a Polish-Jewish girl and a Polish boy, love born in the hell on Earth called Konzentrationslager Auschwitz. Mala Zimetbaum, born on 26/01/1918 in Brzesko, Poland, emigrated in 1928 to Belgium with her family. When Hitler’s German army entered the country, Mala was caught and taken to Auschwitz. Due to her amazing talent for languages she became the camp’s interpreter (and translator) and could help other prisoners. Edward “Edek” Galiński, born on 5/10/1923 in Poland (exact town of birth uncertain), at the moment of outbreak of the II World War was just an ordinary boy, a student of the Maritime School in Pińsk. He was taken to Auschwitz in the first transport on 14/06/1940, along with other 728 Polish political prisoners. Mala and Edek met at the turn of 1943-1944 and immediately fell in love with each other. They decided to fight for their feelings and on the 24th of June 1944 escaped from the death camp. Unfortunately, their freedom didn’t last long. They were found by the German Nazis, deported back to Auschwitz. After a brutal interrogation, they were both killed. Edek’s last words were “Long live Poland!” Anna Vissi, who plays the main role of Mala Zimetbaum, is a superstar of the Greek music industry, a singer with a career spanning over 50 years and loved by millions of people not only in Greece and Cyprus, but also worldwide. Nikos Karvelas, the play’s creator, is a Greek book author, singer, songwriter, producer and a legendary rockstar. He composed numerous songs for many Greek artists, but most notably for Anna Vissi, and to this day remains her almost exclusive music partner. All the rights belong to the creators of the play and to the Greek MEGA channel. The translator has not obtained any financial benefits from translating it nor from uploading it to YouTube. «Στο στερνό μας το ταξίδι από τούτη τη ζωή ας γινόταν, Θεέ μου, να 'μαστε μαζί»
