According to researchers, ex-smokers that switch from cigarettes to vaping are thought to be twice as likely to die from lung cancer, compared to those who don’t vape after quitting cigarettes. Mark Oates from vaping group “We Vape”, thinks that smokers are "vastly" better off if they switch from smoking to vaping. He says: "A lot of people struggle quitting smoking, and they won't quit unless they have another, alternative way of consuming nicotine." Peter Cardwell argues that whilst people may quit smoking and switch to vapes, they are still inhaling dangerous chemicals such as arsenic, chromium, nickel and lead, and asks: "Are you honestly trying to convince people that vaping is safe?"
