ATR 800 Just been cleaned and lubed

This beautiful machine came disassembled for convenient shipping, so we spent hours assembling it, cleaning it, lubricating some parts and finally checking it. It was clear that it spent many years in storage, but gradually, with our persistence, it came back to life. The playback electronics needed minor adjustment, nothing special. It took a while before the tape lifters started working as they should - we did not feel like doing any deep disassembly at that point. The brakes were adjusted, but overall it came back to life with no big drama. The machine came in its most common configuration - three high speeds: 30, 15 and 7.5ips - just as I wanted. The heads showed wear, but nothing to worry about, they are still usable as is, however a future relap might be a good idea. I am very impressed with its sound quality - without any EQ adjustment yet. ATR-800 externally looks very similar to its ATR-102 brother, that I also have, but the tape drive, built by Teac, is very different. At this point its drive is running about 90%, it could still use some minor adjustment, but it is usable.
