Speaking to India Today, Gupteshwar said, "If we see the quarantine guidelines of Maharashtra government it becomes clear that it wasn't essential to keep Vinay Tiwari in quarantine. He didn't go to Mumbai in a secret manner. He requested for a stay at the IPS mess and for a vehicle before he left for Mumbai. Mumbai Police knew about Vinay's arrival in advance."
