One of the most iconic and instantly recognizable vintage bonnet dryers was the Lady Schick Time Machine, from the 1970s. I call it the "Ferrari" of vintage dryers because of its audacious design, completely unique shape, engineering refinement, heating power, light weight, and super-fast SPEED. In fact, Lady Schick advertised these models as "the fastest salon dryer for your home," capable of drying hair 35% faster than typical bonnet dryers. It used 1200 watts, which was more heat than typical bonnet dryers of the era. These are also the roomiest dryers I have ever seen, they have an elongated bonnet that was was advertised as "extra roomy...holds the largest rollers easily." Time Machine dryers featured Schick's exclusive Comfort Control Panel, which is an opening at the front top (visible in the video) that allowed you to let some of the air escape. This feature was well designed as the heat flowed upward and off your face. Time Machine dryers also featured a convenient on/off nape dryer (right behind your neck), a comfort-adjustable air column; and a "free-moving" bonnet. This dryer folds away quickly and easily, a design feature this unit has truly perfected. Carrying it is easy because the unit is rather light and the handle is at the back instead of at the top like most other dryers. It feels more like transporting a small suitcase rather than a ball with a handle as with almost all other dryers. Time Machines with Mist were yellow like this unit and featured a "beautifying mist for instant curling, coloring, and conditioning." Time Machines without the mist function were blue. One of the first videos on this channel was of the blue Time Machine:    • 🔊White Noise Therapy - 1970s Bonnet HAIR D...   The regular (blue) Time Machine originally sold for $49.99 while this mist model (yellow) sold for $59.99 Because the yellow and blue dryers are essentially the same, I modified the recording technique for this video, focusing more on the marvelous air circulation unique to this dryer. Sitting under the bonnet is quite an experience as the larger space and fast-moving air feels different, I would go as far as to say, special, compared to other dryers. The air feels perfectly evenly distributed around your head, it is so powerful yet buttery smooth and very relaxing. The audio attempts to capture the size and larger volume of moving air unique to these units.
