Overview The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine will be phased out of the #Renegade lineup by 2022, leaving only the torquier turbo-four as an option. The RED Edition and an Altitude package, which includes gloss-black exterior parts and different interior details, are new additions to Jeep's portfolio, which is also being streamlined with fewer trim levels. The entry-level Renegade Sport and Latitude now include a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation instead of the original 7-inch display. In addition to the new grille and 18-inch wheels, the top-of-the-line Limited model gets a few other cosmetic upgrades. The Trailhawk is the best option for those who plan to use their Renegade in tough terrain. This subcompact crossover, with a starting price of just over $30,000, lacks the upscale feel of comparable models in the same price range. Rather, we'd go with the Latitude model instead. 17-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, and improved inside materials are all included as standard equipment. A $1500 option for an all-wheel drive is available to those who desire it.  Both the Sun and Sound package Kenwood sound system, panoramic sunroof, and the Convenience package including heated front seats, motorized driver's seat, and 115-volt power outlet are options we'd like to add to our Renegade. Engine, Transmission, and Performance The 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is neither refined nor speedy. The engine's redeeming feature is its low-end torque, which helps the Renegade accelerate from a standstill. All-wheel drive is available with a nine-speed automatic transmission. While all-wheel-drive variants can tow up to 2000 pounds, #Jeep advises against it. The Renegade isn't meant to hustle, but it does. While the Trailhawk model can seem stiffly sprung, other models are composed and comfy. The steering is responsive and there's less body roll than you'd expect from a car fashioned like a Christmas ornament. The turbocharged #Kia Soul and #Mazda CX-30 both offer more performance and joy to drive. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo Its interior is designed to appeal to the same area of our brains that is used to establish communication between two dinosaur-shaped erasers. Like maps embossed in cupholders and "Since 1941" stamped into the dash plastic, it's full of weird forms and toys. We're amused. Sadly, its bulky roof pillars create substantial blind spots, the worst in this class. They fold flat to produce a level load floor, so the Renegade's seats have clearly been practicing yoga. Even yet, the space is merely mediocre. Storage pockets are limited and there is no full-length door cubby upfront, compared to other vehicles in the segment. Infotainment and Connectivity The Renegade's infotainment system features an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect. There's also SiriusXM satellite radio and Apple CarPlay.
