In this video we look at the a pentatonic minor and the C major scale. Since a minor has the same key signature as C major , there are no sharps or flats. The only difference is the position, or degree of the scale that we are starting on. Fthe minor pentatonic scale the pattern is 1 b3 4 5 b7: a c d e g.. There are two positions for the scale. The 'position can be started on the fourth string, fifth fret 'a'. We go to the flat 3rd,'c', which is at the 8th fret, then switch to the 3rd string 5th fret, 'd', and 7th fret.'e'. Then we go to the 2nd string, 5th fret,'g', and the 7th fret , 'a'.. Lastly on the first string, we play the 5th fret, 'c', and the 7th fret, 'd'. and the 9th fret,'e'. We can also play below the root of 'a' at the fifth fret, to 'g'' at the third fret, and 'e' which is the open string. We then play the third string third fret at 'c' and the fifth fret is 'd'. The open fret 3rd string is 'a',. the major pentatonic pattern is 1 2 3 5 6. We play the 3rd string at the 3rd d fret, 'c', go to the 5th fret, 'd', seventh fret, 'e', then switch to the 2nd string, 5th fret ,'g', and the 7th fret, 'a'. Use the octaves of these patterns to work across the fretboard. Peace
