The Koko Head hike is a challenging and rewarding outdoor adventure located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. It is known for its steep and strenuous trail that leads to the summit of Koko Head Crater, offering stunning panoramic views of the coastline and the Pacific Ocean. The hike begins at the Koko Head District Park, where you'll find the trailhead. The trail consists of a series of 1,048 steps made from old railroad ties. These ties were originally used to transport military supplies to the lookout bunkers at the summit during World War II. Today, they serve as the main pathway for hikers to ascend the crater. I was unable to complete the hike to the summit, as the trail was getting way too steep for me and I was worried about the inability to make it back down.
