In this video you can watch some procedures that took place in order to tune the autopilot of the fully 3D printed «Euclid» UAV. Euclid has a 2m wingspan and a total mass of 2kg. Flying tests with an 8500mAh LiPo battery indicated that it is capable of 40+ km (one way) (total 80km) trip. Endurance is about 2 h. Better energy density batteries could be used to increase the performance (Li-ion). Video link (Rush FPV max solo) in this test failed after some point, so a better video link can be used. Telemetry (Dragonlink) worked ok. BTW if you have trouble connecting Dragonlink TX to GCS via Bluetooth, try disabling completely the one of two «Standard Serial over Bluetooth link» ports within «Ports (COM & LPT)» at Device Manager of Windows OS. 3D printed UAV’s are a promising new form of aerial vehicles. Cost can be greatly reduced as well as building times. Individuals can have access to a sophisticated aerial vehicle just by using a consumer grade 3D printer. Companies can build a whole fleet of drones using the same .stl files... The next steps, after the Euclid prototype successfully demonstrated the potential, is to design other types of fixed wing UAV’s that can land in ever more tight space (VTOL).
