June 21, 2005 - San Antonio Spurs defensive specialist Bruce Bowen wasn't a stranger to the reckless utilization of his appendages. His aggressive style of defense, one not entirely foreign to a Pistons franchise with Bad Boys roots, would often lead to a misplaced foot, a sprawling arm, or a digit or two to the dome. During Game 6 of the 2005 Finals, Bowen landed what was at least his second strike of the series on Richard Hamilton's mask (the first coming in Game 3, seen here:    • Stuart Scott Explains Why Rip Hamilton Wea...  ). The impact left Hamilton's mask dislodged and tangled in his hair, requiring off-court repairs from longtime Pistons trainer Mike Abdenour. Hamilton's decision to wear a mask came after breaking his nose twice in succession during the 2003-04 season. Those injuries, alongside another broken nose incident the season prior, led to Hamilton donning the mask for the sake of career preservation. As for Game 6, Hamilton finished with a game-high 23 points in propelling the Pistons to a 95-86 win.
