Looking for a fun lake in Sacramento? We think we have the perfect lake for you and your family to enjoy in the Sacramento area. Now, those who know Patti and I, we like to get away from highly populated areas at our local lakes. We get away from screaming kids, barking dogs, and humans! But, we also understand that we try to be an informative channel for people living in Northern California, or who may be traveling to Northern California, and we can honestly say this is a FUN LAKE for the entire FAMILY! Lake Natoma in Sacramento County (Gold River) is just that, a family fun lake in Sacramento. There is a lot to do. You can rent paddle boards, kayaks, or canoes at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center which is right next door to Lake Natoma. There are roped of swimming areas with lifeguards on duty. There are BBQ pits and picnic tables and most are shaded. There is a pretty good stretch of beach to set up your beach gear. Boats are allowed at Lake Natoma, but there is a 5 mph rule all throughout the lake, so, for that reason you just don't see motorized boating at Lake Natoma, hence, why this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY lake. Lake Natoma in Sacramento County is easily accessable off of Highway 50 and the cost for day use is $12.00. You can certainly bring your own kayak or paddle board and there is plenty of room to launch. There are a few accesses to Lake Natoma, whether it is at the main gate on Hazel Avenue, or other spots of entry include Willow Creek Recreation area, Negro Bar, and along the shores in Folsom by the Rainbow Bridge. ALSO, in 2021, Lake Natoma is full of water! We are experiencing another drought here in California, and all along the West as well. Lake Natoma gets its inflow from Folsom Lake just above Natoma, and Natoma feeds the American River just below. While water is historically low at Folsom Lake (because it is a flood control lake) the levels at Natoma are just fine.
