Traditional 1942 doctrine dictated a conservative standoff distance, but in this engagement, I’ve intentionally disregarded the 'Legacy' playbook. By closing the gap to within 150 miles, I’ve introduced a Third Choice into Nagumo’s historical dilemma. This proximity allows for a Forked Doctrine using staggered, multi-pronged strikes to achieve total systemic disruption. We aren’t just aiming for hulls; we are suffocating the IJN’s ability to recover their 100+ Midway raid while simultaneously forcing a defensive collapse of the fleet formation. The logic here is to utilise the escort heavy pseudo-strike plan at an intersecting point between the Kido Butai's heading and the return of the Midway Raid, they will already be low on ammo from raiding the Islands, and fuel likely in a similar state. My intent: to intercept and disrupt them mid-flight wasting more fuel while simultaneously attacking the Kido Butai itself forcing them into evasive manoeuvres. Ultimately slowing the transit of the fleet and forcing the delay of recovery procedures to the point where the 100+ air frames of the IJN will drop into the sea with nowhere to land.
