Official Luncheon for Czech Republic Prime Minister Jan Fishcher

Malacañan Palace 07 September 2009 President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo hosted an official lunch for Czech Republic Prime Minister Jan Fischer at the Malacañan Palace. In her short message, President Arroyo expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Fischer for his two-day visit in the Philippines. She also recalled the history of relations between the Philippines and the former Czechoslovakia which started from the friendship of the Filipino National Hero Jose Rizal and Czech Scholar Ferdinand Blumentritt. The president said her intentions for a greater, wider and deeper relationship with the Czech Republic. In return, Prime Minister Fischer thanked President Arroyo for a warm welcome given to him and his delegation. He said that he would like to continue a joint venture with the Philippines not only to its economic and trade relations but also to its cultural relations.
