We are writing to you today with heavy hearts, seeking your support to reopen and fully investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of our beloved son, Jason, who was found deceased under highly suspicious conditions. Jason was a vibrant, athletic 19-year-old, who was full of life and potential. He regularly attended the gym, participated in boxing, and was a strong, healthy young man. However, on April 29th, Jason was tragically found hanging upside down in a tree with a V-shaped formation, nearly five months after he went missing on December 13th. The official cause of death has been recorded as “undetermined,” but we firmly believe that foul play was involved. Our suspicions are further heightened by the fact that Jason had a fracture on the back of his skull, a detail that raises serious questions about how he ended up in such a position. The events leading up to Jason’s death are deeply concerning. On December 13th, after taking an excessive amount of Adderall, Jason left our home and was involved in a car accident. Following the crash, he reportedly hijacked another vehicle and drove towards Winchester, where he crashed again on Star Tannery Road. Despite an extensive search by authorities, Jason’s body was not discovered until April 29th, 1,251 feet from the crash site. The initial search, led by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, did not begin until three weeks after Jason went missing. Moreover, the search was limited to only a 25% radius from the crash site, and we believe this search was not conducted in a thorough or comprehensive manner. Even more troubling is the fact that search dogs brought in on the night of Jason’s disappearance lost his scent in the middle of a field, mere yards from where his body was eventually found. Throughout this ordeal, law enforcement repeatedly assured us that they believed Jason had left the area and was no longer in danger. They speculated that he had gotten a ride from someone, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Furthermore, the severe dent in the back of Jason’s car, indicative of a possible collision, remains unexplained, leaving us with more questions than answers. To compound our grief, Jason’s brother, Korey Platt, tragically took his own life seven months earlier due to bullying at his army base in Lacey, Washington. This loss profoundly affected Jason, and we fear that the trauma of losing his brother may have played a role in the events that unfolded. We are desperate for answers and believe that Jason’s case was prematurely closed without a full and proper investigation. We are seeking to hire a private investigator and legal representation to ensure that every aspect of Jason’s death is scrutinized, and that any and all individuals involved are held accountable. This petition is a call to action for the Winchester and Frederick County Police Departments, as well as any relevant authorities, to reopen Jason’s case and conduct a thorough investigation. We demand that every lead be pursued, every piece of evidence be examined, and that justice be served for our son. We ask for your support in this endeavor.
