All About Photo proudly announces the winners of the 2025 All About Photo Awards – The Mind’s Eye, marking the prestigious competition’s 10th anniversary. This edition highlights 50 outstanding images that reflect the beauty, complexity, and urgency of our world through powerful visual storytelling. Photographers from over 40 countries submitted thousands of entries. The selected works— ranging from intimate portraits to urgent photojournalism—demonstrate photography’s continued role in documenting and interpreting the human experience. This year’s winners represent 26 countries across six continents. While only 12 of the 50 honorees are women, 2025 marks the second time a woman has been named Photographer of the Year. The top five winners will share a $5,000 cash prize. Photographer of the Year 2025: awarded to Marijn Fidder (The Netherlands) for her deeply humanistic series Inclusive Nation, featuring 15-year-old Husnah Kukundakwe, Uganda’s only classified Paralympic swimmer. The series captures moments from Husnah’s training in Kampala while shedding light on broader issues of disability rights, self-acceptance, and social progress in Uganda. Second place goes to Abdelrahman Alkahlout (Palestine) for Stolen Innocence, a harrowing image taken inside a Gaza hospital morgue following an airstrike. The photo stands as a stark testament to the civilian toll of ongoing conflict in the region. Third place is awarded to Erhan Coral (Turkey) for Hot Springs of Budaklı, a visually poetic scene where men and water buffaloes share the warmth of thermal springs in Eastern Turkey’s frozen landscape—an image blending tradition, survival, and coexistence. Fourth place honors João Coelho (Portugal/Angola) for Exhaustion, part of his series The Iron Quest, which documents the dangerous labor of young metal scavengers working in a ship graveyard in Angola under extreme and exploitative conditions. Fifth place goes to Francesco Gioia (Italy) for Hand and Cigarette, a close-up portrait that captures the elegance and grit of aging, blending texture, color, and character in a moment both raw and refined. Members of the Jury: • Janet Delaney – Photographer • Sarah Gilbert – Features Photo Editor, The Guardian • Karl Taylor – Photographer & Filmmaker, Hasselblad Ambassador • Tatsuo Suzuki – Street Photographer • Ann Jastrab – Executive Director, Center for Photographic Art • Sandrine Hermand-Grisel – Founder, All About Photo The All About Photo Awards – The Mind’s Eye is an annual international photography competition that celebrates powerful visual storytelling. Open to photographers of all levels and styles, the contest highlights images that are artistically strong and socially, culturally, or environmentally meaningful. Started in 2015, the awards are now in their 10th year and have become a respected platform for both emerging and established photographers. Each year, an international jury selects a group of winning images that show the complexity and beauty of our world. The name The Mind’s Eye is inspired by a quote from Henri Cartier-Bresson: “To take photographs means to recognize—simultaneously and within a fraction of a second—both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one's head, one's eye, and one's heart on the same axis.” It captures the spirit of the competition and its focus on thoughtful, meaningful photography.
