Explore the quiet west shore of Windermere, a world away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness and Windermere. Hop on the ferry at Ferry Nab and sail across to Ferry House to join the 9km linear route to Red nab (4.5km each way). Part of the route is 'for many' and parts 'for some'. Weave through woodland and open meadow and take in the expansive views, looking across the lake to Bowness and further north to the Troutbeck hills. The western shore provides a wooded shoreline and pebble beaches with lots of opportunities for a rest and a picnic. Stop by Claife Station Courtyard for refreshments or join a path (only suitable 'for some') leading to the viewing station with panarmic views across the lake.
