Nana panics and cries, “Oh no!”, but the important thing is that he doesn’t give up or just stand there—he immediately thinks of a way to fix the problem so the road can be safe to use again. Nana turns the tractor around to a nearby sand pit, loads a full tractorful of sand, then returns and pours it into the crater, patiently filling it bit by bit until it is no longer dangerous.
