Oh boy this is a doozy! Here is another example of how Mr. Sproul got it wrong. Watch out for this false prophet. By the way, it was God's will that you see this. 1st Corinthians 12:3 says "Therefore I make known to you that NO ONE SPEAKING BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD CALLS JESUS ACCURSED, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." Amen! Hebrews 13:8-9a says "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines." Amen! John 8:29 Jesus said "He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him. John 10:17-18 "Therefore my Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father." Amen! Does this sound like someone that God punished, abused, hated, and damned? No way! Jesus WILLINGLY laid down his life. John 15:13 Our Lord said "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." The cross was the greatest act of LOVE and FORGIVENESS that the world has ever seen. Jesus said in John 16:32 "Look, an hour is coming and has already come when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and you will leave Me all alone. Yet I am not alone, because THE FATHER IS WITH ME." Also, could someone find for me the verse where it says God turned his face away from Christ while he was on the cross. (Good luck!) Psalm 22:24 says "For He has not despised or detested the torment of the afflicted. He HAS NOT HIDDEN HIS FACE FROM HIM, but has attended to his cry for help." This was the scripture Jesus was remembering on the cross. Remember when he cried out "My God, my God why have you forsaken me"? Go read Psalm 22:1. Jesus was obviously recalling Psalm 22 to comfort him in his hour of torment. Breaks my heart to think about it. Someone find the verse that says God damned Jesus while he was on the cross. Someone be a pal and find us the scripture that teaches that Jesus was accursed by God while he was on the cross. If I substitute for a teacher, Mrs. Smith, who is absent I “become” the teacher. But by no means do I actually BECOME the absent teacher. I am taking her place as the teacher. Not magically becoming Mrs. Smith herself. Same with Jesus’ substitutionary death on the cross. He took on our sin debt for us. He did not become a concentrated mass of sin! Also, sin is the great illness. Jesus is the great physician. On the cross Jesus healed us from the sickness of sin. Sin was imputed upon Christ, so that, when we believe, his righteousness could therefore be imputed upon us.
