FICSI is Organizing 15th webinar on Hygiene Rating Scheme - FSSAI under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Food safety is vital to human beings as well as to the food industry and is directly associated with hygiene practice of food handlers. Evaluation of food safety knowledge and hygienic practices is a tool to check it’s implementation in ongoing food facilities. A food hygiene or food safety audit reduces the risk of unsafe food reaching consumers, decreases food safety breaches and fosters a positive reputation of the food facility. It also provides a comprehensive insight of food processing facility’s ability to comply with established food hygiene and safety standards and regulations. FSSAI had introduced the voluntary hygiene rating scheme for food service establishments. The ratings are based on compliance with food hygiene and safety requirements laid under Part V of Schedule IV of Food Safety and Standards Regulation, 2011. It is a step towards encouraging food businesses to adopt a practice of self-compliance and showcase food safety to gain consumer’s confidence. Speaker Detail: 1.
