Strategic vision. Sounds like such a lofty thing, doesn’t it? Living way up there in the blue sky. But for vision to become real, it has to happen on the ground. It has to have a plan. And that’s exactly what Penn Medicine’s new strategic plan is – a roadmap created for and by the people with their feet on the ground. This new plan is a reflection of who we are, where we’ve been...and where we know we can go. Of the electric possibilities that Ben Franklin and his kite opened up for us. Because the world is changing -- rapidly. And to stay in our extraordinary leadership position – and keep doing extraordinary good, Penn Medicine is ready to lead that change. Here are the 5 overarching goals that will guide our organization for the next five years and beyond: -Lead with humanity in everything we do. The equitable distribution of health and health care are essential elements of justice. We will treat all of our staff, all of our patients, all of our students, and all of our communities with dedication and compassion. -Make breathtaking discoveries and put them to work. Discovery propels us, improving and differentiating our service to patients, students, and the world. We will invest in opportunities we can see now and invest in an environment that creates and captures prospects not yet seen. -Simplify care delivery and place it within reach. Patient Care must be easy on patients and easy on clinicians. Placing care within reach means making it accessible and affordable, offering accommodation, and reassurance. We will adapt delivery systems to the needs of patients and clinicians. -Develop people for great accomplishment. Health care and population health are human enterprises. We will create and deploy new approaches to transform training and professional development. -Uplift our community, our environment, and ourselves. We live here. We will improve our community, improve the lives of our students and staff, and improve the natural environment.
