Shwetha Srivathsan’s journey into inclusion began at home, guided by her daughter Aditi’s diagnosis in 2008. What started as a search for strategies to support her child soon became a deeper calling, one rooted in understanding, empathy, and the belief that every learner deserves to feel seen. As she navigated the realities of raising a neurodivergent child, Shwetha discovered a passion for reshaping the environments children grow up in, turning her lived experience into a commitment to build awareness and acceptance in education and beyond. Her path evolved from tax consultant to educator, advocate, and storyteller. With formal training in inclusive education and over a decade of hands-on work with autistic children and teens, she has helped schools rethink what truly inclusive classrooms can look like. Her belief that inclusion begins with awareness led her to co-author Dhwani, a practical guide for teachers, and to train more than 700 school leaders across India. Through her parenting podcast, Not That Different, she amplifies stories that challenge assumptions and highlight the strengths, creativity, and diversity within neurodivergent communities. At the heart of it all, she remains deeply inspired by Aditi, an award-winning young author whose journey continues to reflect the power of support, belief, and belonging. Her recognition with the Guiding Light Caregiver Award honours the spirit of her work: transforming lived experience into leadership, and advocacy into lasting impact. Shwetha’s journey reminds us that inclusion grows from awareness, and that every step toward understanding creates a more compassionate world for all learners. #GLA #GLA2025 #GuidingLightAwards #Inclusion #Neurodiversity #InclusionMatters #Changemakers #CelebrateCaregivers #Caregiver #QuietHeroes #hashhackcode #HHC
