in this video we use a siepser suture to make the pupil a bit smaller in a patient with mydriasis following cataract surgey. In this monocular patient the mydriasis led to glare and crescents as the edge of the IOL was barely visible. we did not want to make the pupil too small so we could still easily examine the retina. pharmacolgic techniques such as brominidine and pilocarpine did not work. we placed a single suture at 10 and 2 oclock of 10-O prolene. we used the Siepser sliding knot with the Mccannel suture retrieval technique. The pupil got about 1 mm smaller and seems to no easily cover the edge of the IOL.
