Warm-up with BCI Conductor Colin Baldy. More warm-ups and programs can be found here: https://www.berkshirechoral.org/progr... Colin Baldy comes from Lewes, Sussex. His career encompasses performing, teaching, directing (both musical direction and stage direction) and writing. Colin is Artistic Director of the Opera Course at the City Lit and is also an impressario, promoting concerts and operas through both the Maldon Festival and Hand Made Opera. Although he is based in the UK and Italy, Colin performs, teaches and directs around the world and works frequently with a variety of organisations in the USA. Colin did his training at Colchester Institute and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During and after those courses he studied with Norman Tattersall, Pamela Bowden, Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, Peter Harrison, Joy Mammen, Jo Estill and Paul Farrington. As a conductor, Colin has held various musical directorships, including at St Peter’s, Vauxhall, St Mary’s, Maldon and as Choral Director at Felsted. He has conducted for the Berkshire Choral Festival (Mass. USA), where he has also been a member of faculty and has been an occasional director of music for BBC Radio 2 (Sunday Half Hour). He has taken workshops for choirs and choral societies around the UK, in Italy and the USA. As a stage director, Colin is Artistic Director of the Opera Course at the City Lit. He has also worked for New Chamber Opera, Hand Made Opera, Country Opera and the USU Opera Programme. Productions include Pergolesi, La Serva Padrona for Hand Made Opera; Gilbert and Sullivan, Trial by Jury for Hand Made Opera, Wantage Opera and Felsted School; Gilbert and Sulliva, Pirates of Penzance for Maldon Festival; Mozart, Cosi fan tutte for Hand Made Opera, Country Opera, Scheggino Opera and the Caithness Summer School; Rossini, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Mozart, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, both for Hand Made Opera. For New Chamber Opera, he has directed Blow, Venus and Adonis. Colin has a long and fruitful relationship with Utah State University where, in addition to giving choral classes and vocal masterclasses, he has directed Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus; Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance and Trial by Jury; Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore; Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea; Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges and Menotti’s The old maid and the thief.
