APOLOGIES MY MICROPHONE PLAYED UP SO YOU MAY NEED TO ADJUST YOUR VOLUME! Hi I'm Jane, the Cornish Knitter, and usually I share my knitting stories, life over 60 ,and my yarn business life with you on this channel based from my home county of Cornwall in the UK. But this isn't my usual type of video. A few weeks ago I was admitted to hospital with a blood clots (pulmonary embolisms) on both of my lungs and the right side of my heart was enlarged. I am okay now but the experience was terrifying and life changing. In this video I share what happened, how I am processing it emotionally, and why I think this conversation matters for knitters and anyone who spends a long amount of time sitting down for their craft. My background is in public health but I am not clinically qualified, but I am sharing what I learned about the risks, what to look out for, and how I am making small changes to protect my health in the future. I hope that this video helps someone who may be at risk of a life threatening condition that comes out of nowhere, and reminds us knitters to get up and stretch, move, and notice anything we think something is just not normal for them. Thank you for being part of this community - your support means the world. If you have ever had a health scare or learned a hard lesson I would love to hear your story in the comments.
