Improving vaccine uptake through systems research

Immunization is one of the greatest public health success stories of our time. But since the COVID-19 pandemic, declining momentum in vaccination threatens decades of progress, especially in low- and middle-income countries. This new video highlights a multi-country initiative led by the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research and funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research at the Department of Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Six research teams across Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan and the Philippines are using health policy and systems research to understand and overcome barriers to vaccine uptake. By generating local evidence and engaging policy makers, these teams are shaping smarter, systems-level solutions to boost immunization efforts, reach zero-dose and adolescent/adult populations, and protect public health.
