Headaches that creep up the side of your head or wrap over the top? That’s often not “just stress.” It’s your posture strangling your nerves. Here’s how it happens: 👉 Your head drifts forward. 👉 To keep your eyes level, your neck cranks into extension. 👉 The muscles at the base of your skull get short, tight, and clamp down on the nerves. 👉 Those nerves light up, sending pain up the side and top of your head. 👉 Over time, the base of your skull even jams down into the vertebrae below it. That’s the chain reaction behind a lot of “mystery” headaches. The Fix: Sit smarter. If your pelvis is slouched, your whole spine collapses. Get a chair with real pelvic support (Dr. Mike loves the Anthros Chair). It helps you keep a natural arch in your low back so your head stays better stacked. Decompress the base of your skull. Clasp your hands behind your head, gently tuck your chin, press your head back into your hands, then add a light pull down. This lengthens those tight muscles and eases pressure on the nerves. Your headaches aren’t random. Fix your posture, free your nerves, and keep your skull from crushing your spine.
