Recorded from a US Sega Genesis model 2 system that has been fitted with a "triple bypass" A/V upgrade (https://insurrectionindustries.com/pr...) for the best audio and video quality I can provide you from original hardware. Output is scaled 4X by the OSSC for capture at 1080p/60fps. I was taking a look at Genesis / Mega Drive shmups while browsing the shmups.system11.org forums recently and I stumbled on this game. I found a thread where "SHMUP MASTER" ran this game and his YouTube video inspired me to do a run of my own. If you are interested in checking out his amazing gameplay, here is the link: • Insector X (Genesis) 1CC Run w/Commentary ... In my run, I decided to play at lower rank by skipping all shot upgrades after the first, and also only picking up 2 weapon upgrades. Rank is super static in this game, as you can easily see the difference in enemy bullet speed once you pick up the 3rd shot upgrade (P icon). Also, many enemies start releasing suicide bullets after the 3rd gun upgrade. I avoided all these upgrades at the expense of a better score. Scoring in this game unfortunately can be pretty broken. Bosses don't time out, which is a huge issue because the 4th level spider boss releases smaller enemies you can sit back and kill for as long as you want. You can also "checkpoint milk" by purposely dying in certain areas to accumulate score - which is a valid tactic in many shooters. In summary, I very much enjoyed this game and would recommend it to anyone looking for a straightforward shmup on the Genesis. I may take a look at the arcade version of Insector X soon, but I'm I'm not sure what to expect because of it's wildly different "Cute'em up" art style. As with all my runs - no TAS (tool assistance), cheats, hacks, or save states are used. Thanks for checking out my gameplay! Pete
