Per Cicerone era infatti la più grande e bella di tutte le città greche. A Siracusa ci sono numerose tracce di questo periodo, la Fonte Aretusa, il Teatro Greco, l’Orecchio di Dioniso, il Tempio di Apollo, solo per citarne qualcuna. Ma non furono solo i Greci a passare di lì, Siracusa fu colonizzata successivamente da Romani, Bizantini, Arabi e Normanni. Un violento terremoto, nel 1693, ridusse la città in macerie eliminando (o quasi) tutte le tracce architettoniche del passato. Dopo la tragedia la città è stata interamente ricostruita in stile barocco: qui potrete ammirarne uno degli esempi migliori. L'impressione che avete sarà di visitare una città sospesa nel tempo, tra il medioevo e il barocco. For Cicero it was in fact the largest and most beautiful of all Greek cities. In Syracuse there are numerous traces of this period, the Fonte Aretusa, the Greek Theater, the Ear of Dionysus, the Temple of Apollo, just to name a few. But it wasn't just the Greeks who passed through there, Syracuse was later colonized by the Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans. A violent earthquake in 1693 reduced the city to rubble, eliminating (almost) all the architectural traces of the past. After the tragedy, the city was entirely rebuilt in Baroque style: here you can admire one of the best examples.
