An ignitor plug and a glow plug are both devices use to assist in igniting fuel in internal combustion engines; they operate differently and are used in different types of engines. An ignitor plug is a broader term that can refer to any device used to ignite fuel mixture by providing an electrical spark to ignite the fuel, while a glow plug specifically refers to a heating element used to preheat the combustion chamber, allowing for easier ignition during cold starts. Generally there are two ignitor plugs which are installed into the combustion chamber to ignite the fuel from the fuel nozzles. A glow plug is a device used in turbine engines to help with starting the engine, especially in cold conditions. Turbine engines rely on high temperatures and pressure to ignite fuel, and during cold weather, the air inside the engine may not be hot enough for proper ignition.
