At the end of summer the tree decided to push two long extensions. One in the top of the tree, and one just underneath a another branch. The last one would never fit in the design of the tree, so I immediately decided to bend the branch, so that I could use is it for a thread graft. When the leaves all fell from the tree it was time to do my first ever thread graft 😱 I missed a branch on the second turn of the trunk, so that was the ideal spot. But first I cleaned the moss from the trunk, and did some small pruning. Then it was time to drill a hole in the trunk🤞 I managed to get a clean hole in the trunk and placed the branch into the hole without damaging the buds. I have two buds just about 1 cm next to the trunk 👏 I used toothpicks to fill the holes and placed some cut paste to protect the wounds. The apex of the tree is still uncertain ... some bold decisions will be needed. But that will be for spring of 2026 😉
