Due to a few issues with previous projects, and a fair amount of questions on this topic. I've decided to conduct a little experiment with polyester fiberglass resin on top of EPS(Expanded Polystyrene) foam. The issue is when the polyester resin is applied to the EPS foam, the foam tends to melt. While I am no chemical engineer, a little research has lead me to believe that styrene contained in the polyester resin acts as a solvent on foam. In this video, I'll be doing a simple demonstration with a piece of foam and a few ideas on how to combat the issue. While I understand that Epoxy resin would be a way to avoid the issue altogether, it is more expensive. My main goal is to discuss alternatives for people attempting projects on a budget. This will by no means be an end to the discussion, and I am very open to suggestions and feedback.
