How to Use XLStylesTool Description -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XLStylesTool.EXE is an OOXML based tool, which can do the following for your Excel workbook file: •Removes unused cell styles and "stubborn styles" that you can't delete through Excel UI, •Removes bad named ranges, named ranges with external references that cache a large amounts of data inside the workbook, •Unhides non-system created hidden named ranges. Technical Requirements ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- •XLStylesTool.EXE will work on Excel 2010 and Excel 2007 workbooks (i.e., Open XML file format) with protected sheets and read-only password-protected workbooks in about 1-2 sec. •Excel 2003 users would have to save the file as Excel 2007 or Excel 2010 and then perform the clean-up procedure and save the file back as Excel 2003 (if necessary). •OOXML tool limitations vs. VBA tools: XLStylesTool.EXE won't work on a fully encrypted workbook -- a workbook with a password to open it or binary files (files with xlsb extensions). •Users need to have .Net framework installed to use the tool (in addition to Excel). The tool requires .Net3.5. or .Net4.0 to run the application. •If you have .Net3.5 on your machine, use the original version of the XLStylesTool -- it was written for .Net3.5.
