'Mutiny. How our world is tilting', is the latest book of @PeterMertensTV's . We are joining Peter from London to Johannesburg, in search of more context to the mutiny that lives so hard today. This is the final part of the Mutiny docuseries. Peter Mertens is in Johannesburg, South Africa, for Dilemmas of Humanity, a conference filled with activists, music and hope. At this conference, Peter meets Vijay Prashad, an Indian historian with incredibly interesting insights into the history of the development of the global South. How those countries had to fight against colonialism, for independence. And how it took decades to rebuild their politics and economy. World relations are skewed. But that is changing. The South is no longer the lapdog of the North. A number of rigid conservatives don't handle that well. It remains to be seen how these changes will further evolve. About Peter Mertens Peter Mertens is the general secretary of the PVDA-PTB. He has a degree in sociology and started working in the port of Ghent after his studies. Peter is the author of 'Op mensenmaat (On a Human Scale)' and the bestseller 'Hoe durven ze? (How Dare They?)'. With this political 'thriller' he won the Jaap Kruithof Award. With 'Graailand (Country of Greed)' Mertens wrote a sharp critique against the establishment's greed culture, while at the same time delivering a story of resistance and hope. During the pandemic he wrote 'Ze zijn ons vergeten (They Have Forgotten Us)'. In this book Mertens formulates the thesis that "the working class, and not the chattering class keeps the country straight." The book landed in the top 10 nonfiction and was translated into French, German, Spanish, English and Romanian. More info at https://www.petermertens.be/ BUY 'Mutiny.
