Yes, I made an old habits die hard mistake, I meant to say Cambodia and said the Philippines. "I went to extend my visa, hoping for a full year, but things didn’t go quite as planned. Watch what happened and how it all unfolded, no spoilers yet!" You can extend a Cambodia tourist visa, but only once for 30 days. That is it. You cannot get 6 or 12 months on a tourist visa, even if you are staying in a hotel. If you want to stay long term, do not come in on a tourist visa. Enter on an E class ordinary visa instead. The E visa can be extended for 6 or 12 months, and staying in a hotel is fine, you do not need a rental contract.
